Moscow, Russia, May 13, 2006 – Russian-American couples who met each other online and married, say they are happy with their partner, according to a recent survey. AnastasiaDate, one of the leading Russian-American online dating services, asked over 500 couples to respond to a survey. The vast majority, 76 percent, said their spouse met their expectations.
The respondents to the survey were asked: "Did your partner meet the expectations you had when you were dating?" Some said there were a few unexpected surprises, such as: "He never told me that he snored." However, 76 percent reported that their new spouse did meet their expectations.
Mike is a 43-year-old doctor who lives in S. Carolina with his Russian wife Elena, a 28-year-old engineer from Kiev. His response to the survey was fairly typical. "I am grateful to Anastasia for giving me the opportunity to meet Elena. She is the most wonderful woman I have ever met. We have been together for two years already and I must say that our marriage has met every one of my expectations and even more," he commented.
According to the survey, 89 percent of the women and 55 percent of the men experienced a change in their lifestyle as the result of marriage. Most of the women and almost all the men reported that those changes were positive. "I lived alone for many years before I met Larisa, my lovely Ukrainian wife. I thought I was too old to start a family and too used to the bachelor life. Now I feel 25 again, I even lost a few pounds," said Robert, a 43-year-old farmer from Texas.
A full 90 percent of the women reported that the biggest change for them was that they feel secure and protected. The women do report various aspects of culture shock and the need to adjust, particularly to the American dependence on cars instead of public transportation. Most of the respondents, 67 percent, said that the language barrier was not a big problem for them, and 55 percent of the men reported that their wives could communicate well the day they arrived in the U.S.
The research was conducted in March 2006 among couples who found each other after using the services of AnastasiaDate. Over 500 men and women responded, giving detailed answers and insights into their experiences and emotions.
